Scones ingredients
- 500g of raised flour
- 2 tbsp Baking powder
- 120g of unsalted cold - cubed butter
- 100gCaster sugar
- 160ml of buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- Olive oil spray
- Strawberry jam
- Squirty cream
Instructions
I measured the self-raising flour and baking powder in a mixing bowl and stirred them well to combine them. I added the butter to it and then rubbed the fat with my fingertips until the mixture formed breadcrumbs.
I have added the strawberry to the mixing bowl as I loved it.
I heated the milk in the oven for 30 seconds and added lemon juice and vanilla extract to it.
Stir in the sugar, add the buttermilk and egg in the measuring Jug then gradually in the mixing bowl and stir them so that a soft dough could form.
Place the dough on the countertop and pat it into a square shape at 1 to 2cm height.
It’s time to cut the scones with the help of a cutter straight into the dough and lift it out without twisting.
Brush the top of the scones with a little milk and egg wash
Preheat the air fryer for five minutes at 180 degrees Celsius
After 5 minutes I placed the scones in the basket of the air fryer and baked them for 7 to 8 minutes.
When that time passed I took out the scones and let them cool before serving.
I have served them with jam and cream.
Notes
Use butter that is neither solid nor melted; it should be cold enough, which helps the dough become greasy.
Do not twist the cutter while pressing into the dough or lifting it out.
Take the baking powder and scones fresh.
